FCC: An influential conservative is backing FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr as President Trump’s pick for Chairman of the FCC. “Brendan Carr is the right person to lead the FCC. When Biden’s FCC decided to retaliate against Starlink because Elon Musk refused to censor Biden’s political opponents, Brendan Carr fought back,” said Brent Bozell in a 300-word statement posted Nov. 8 that heaped praise on Carr. Trump, elected Nov. 5, has not indicated a preference, but Bozell’s endorsement can only help Carr, who has been viewed as the front runner for months. Bozell, founder of the Media Research Center (MRC) and a high-profile member of the conservative Buckley family, praised Carr for questioning the FCC’s speedy processing of the Audacy radio deal, allegedly to aid Democratic Party donor George Soros; for resisting FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel’s plan to require disclosure of AI technology used in political ads on radio and TV; and for recognizing that “a small group of some of the world’s most powerful corporations exercise complete control over [the] public square.” Bozell’s MRC has spent decades calling out liberal media bias. “President Donald Trump has promised to end the Biden administration’s weaponization of government. He can start by placing Brendan Carr at the helm of the FCC,” Bozell said. Bozell is the nephew of National Review founder William F. Buckley, Jr. and U.S. Sen. James L. Buckley (Conservative-N.Y.), both deceased. James Buckley, appointed by President Reagan in 1985, served on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit until taking senior status in 1996.
