FCC: FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel yesterday issued a statement congratulating FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr on being named her successor by President-elect Trump. But her statement was less about Carr than about FCC staff. "From his time here, I am confident that Commissioner Carr is familiar with the staff, the responsibilities of this new role, and the importance of continued U.S. leadership in communications," she said. Republican Carr, who pushed back hard on Democrat Rosenworcel’s agenda, joined the FCC as a staffer in 2012. Rosenworcel said nothing about her own plans. FCC heads usually depart with a change in administration. Meanwhile, FCC Commissioner Geoffrey Starks, a Democrat, referred to Carr as his "friend and colleague" and "a dedicated public servant and a recognized leader on the many issues before the FCC today, and I deeply respect his work." Fellow Republican FCC Commissioner Nathan Simington said, "[Carr] will be a great and transformative Chairman, and I look forward to serving alongside him on the Carr Commission!” FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez did not post a statement.
